Mother of the Virgin Mary
Saint Anne was the mother the the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus. She was born from the House of David, which predicted the birth of Jesus. Anne and her husband, Joachim wanted a baby and tried for 20 years to concieve. Finally an angel came to Anne and said that God would give her a child. She promised to dedicate her child's life to God and that she would name her Mary.
Her feast day is July 26.
When Mary was three years old, Anne and Joachim gave Mary up to the temple. Even though they had always wanted a child they knew that Mary had a very important role in life. She eventually become Jesus's mother through imaculate conception. Saint Anne does not have any miracles but she is considered a saint for giving up her child for the Lord.Prayer to Saint Anne
Glorious St. Anne, filled with compassion for those who invoke you and with love for those who suffer, heavily laden with the weight of my troubles, I cast myself at your feet and humbly beg of you to take the present affair which I recommend to you under your special protection.
St. Anne, please, recommend to your daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and lay it before the throne of Jesus, so that He may bring it to a happy issue.
St. Anne cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted. (Here ask for favor you wish to obtain.)
Above all, obtain for me the grace of one day beholding my God face to face, and with You and Mary and all the saints, praising and blessing Him through all eternity. Amen.
