One of the seven sacraments, also known as the "sacrament of the dying," administered by a priest to a baptized person who begins to be in danger of death because of illness or old age, through prayer and the anointing of the body with the oil of the sick. The proper effects of the sacrament include a special grace of healing and comfort to the Christian who is suffering the infirmities of serious illness or old age, and the forgiving of the person's sins (1499, 1520, 1523, 1526-1532). From the Catechism of the Catholic Church referenced by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops
Anointing of the sick is available immediately following Friday 8:30 AM masses. Please contact Cheryl Wise, Pastor's Secretary at (281) 205-1172 to celebrate the sacrament well in advance of any surgery that will be performed; when an elderly loved one’s health is beginning to fail; and most especially as a loved one is beginning to receive hospice care.
After office hours and weekend emergency phone number: 281-205-1183. Please have a family member leave a detailed message: someone will return your call as soon as possible. Please be aware that our parish has only one priest, and regrettably, it is not always possible for him to be immediately available for last moment anointings, particularly during weekend mass times. Please call in advance as much as possible so that your needs can be met. We apologize - please pray for an increase of vocations to the Priesthood.
